We’ve always lingered outside the local newsagents scanning the cards in their window; things for sale, people offering their services, local things going on and I should think we’ve acted on these little ads more than any other form of classified ads.

Why? Well mainly because you can nip round the corner to look at something for sale, someone can be with you to quote or chat about a service or job in a couple of hours and it is all very convenient unlike many other sources of classifieds.

So that was the idea really, use the internet so that instead of having a card in one newsagent’s window, you can have the same card in the equivalent of all the newsagents in your area.

Add to that a forum area where you can ask for recommendations, chat about local or neighbourhood issues plus an area for local notices and events and hopefully we’re providing a community building service.

We want to keep it all very neighbourly and democratic and we will monitor things carefully with users’ help.
